About
Hi there and welcome to our story! If you have ever wondered who we are, what we do and why we came to write The Casual Cat Blog in the first place, be sure to read on!
It all started out in the year of 2001 when we, Nicole and Robert, met on a weekend trip in NYC. He went up to me on the street and complimented me about my sweater, asked me what I was doing here and cracked some really aweful (but cute!) jokes.
After dating for around 4 months, we decided we wanted to give this thing a chance and officially became a couple.

What we both enjoyed so much was our shared love for cats. Robert had had a kitten in his youth and expressed his affection for felines on the very first date! Needless to say that I, as a cat lady of two, was in awe of this man's love for animals.
Now as time went on and things got more serios between each other, we eventually moved to Chicago in 2005 and got ourselves a nice, big flat where we and my felines had plenty of space. Following a random conversation we had in 2006, we saw ourselves standing in the local shelter a day after, picking a kitty for Robert.

Robert was happy with, then tiny, Mr. Banks and he was getting along with my felines Nono & Waffles extremely well.
It was the year 2009 when we first talked about helping and entertaining other people with our experiences with our cats. That moment was basically the beginning of our wish to write, educate, help and be weird about cats!

Back in this time though, the internet wasn't as developed as it is now, thus making it very hard to create a website.
Therefore, we reached out to magazines and local publishers in order to get our first story printed. After a lot of failed attempts and setbacks, we finally had a little annecdote posted in a local cat shelter magazine.
That small victory was totally enough to convince us that this was something we were good at and wanted to proceed!

Fast forward to June of 2014 and we had started our first blog 3 months ago. Things were progressing slowly and we hadn't got real readers yet, but were typing away furiosly.
In 2015 we published our second cat blog, after not being happy with the first one anymore. Still, the results we wished for were not occuring, which is why we stopped that one in the beginning of 2016.
After many more failed attempts at writing feline stories that catch on, we took a break in the early months of 2017 and set together to reflect.

What did we do wrong? Why didn't we get noticed by the people?
The answer that we found months later was quite simple: We didn't get noticed because nobody actually found us on the internet!
The fact that we were writing away on our cat blog didn't bring in visitors by default. Sharing our work on Social Media did bring us some readers, but these were only friends we knew personally.
This is why we started The Casual Cat Blog on a whole new basis and with a completely different mindset!

Robert and I did took a local course on how to get found on the internet so our kitty stories could actually get read!
Now this, as you propably have guessed, was absolutely fundamental.
Since then, we are regularly getting visitors and readers who enjoy our stories, lessons and anecdotes about our felines, that actually stay to read more about us!

Today, we are extremely happy to reach out to so many cat lovers around the world and to actually get noticed! We love what we do, earn zero dollars from it and will certainly continue on our path of writing about the animals we love - our cats.
Thank you everybody who is with us on this journey and we are looking forward to spending more time with you.
With much love,
Nicole and Robert
